Statement of Compliance: Texas State Technical College Harlingen is in compliance with Comprehensive Standard 3.2.3.
Rationale for Judgment of Compliance:
The Texas State Technical College System Board of Regents adopted System Policy HR 2.1.12 [Ref 1] that states, "no employee or appointed officer shall have any interest, financial or otherwise, direct or indirect, or engage in any business transaction or professional activity or incur any obligation of any nature which is in substantial conflict with the proper discharge of his/her duties in the public interest." By-laws further detail specifics of this requirement. [Ref 2].
Additional college policies that address standards of conduct and political activities are also followed. The Director of Human Resources, Mary Prepejchal, [Ref 3] has been assigned by the President to serve as the TSTC Harlingen Ethics Advisor. This assignment involves working with the TSTC System Ethics Advisor and the Texas Ethics Commission to ensure compliance with the spirit and the intent of established standards of conduct.
